Scope of the work
Containerization makes an application's environment reproducible between development and production. Depending on the existing setup, the work can cover Dockerfiles, service configuration, environment variables and release steps.
Configuration also needs to account for ports, volumes, dependencies and the secrets required at startup. Where the project calls for it, build and run steps are documented to make handover easier and reduce differences between environments.
Deployment is adapted to the target infrastructure and application constraints, rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all recipe. Checks can cover startup, configuration and data persistence to reduce surprises during a later release.
